Mehrasa’s Story

Iran (Persia) was the cradle of the Bahá'í Faith. I was brought up in a Bahá'í family in Iran where unfortunately the faith has been the subject of much persecution and prejudice throughout its history from both government and religious authorities.
Although my fellow believers and I enjoyed a circle of Moslem friends we were still targeted in schools, the work-place, and were denied access to university. For just being a Bahá'í we were subject to arbitrary arrest and other human rights abuse.

In a large and spiritually rich Bahá'í community in Iran I learned from the Bahá'í Faith how to love the people who hate us; how to sacrifice what you have for people who don't consider you as a human being; and how to live in peace with people who are your enemies. Later I recognized selfishness, arrogance, hate and ignorance may exist whereever people are spiritually blind and cease to function as human beings.
I found teaching children moral values and spiritual education on Bahá'í principles a fascinating and strong tool to give them and to help them in choosing to develop their brighter side which is the realm of light, joy, happiness and understanding. That is why I started to run children class from when I was a teenager to teach them to know how to develop their spiritual side such as the power of love, unity, truthfulness, fairness, serving mankind and so on.

I am now happy to be running children’s classes from my home in Croxley Green as a service to the community.

Mehrasa

Mehrasa’s choice from the Bahá’í writings

The Great Being saith:
Regard man as a mine rich in gems of instimable value. Education can, alone, cause it to reveal its treasures, and enable mankind to benefit therefrom.

Gleanings from the writings of Bahá'u'lláh

They that thirst for the wine of certitude, must cleanse themselves of all that is earthly - their ears from idle talk, their minds from vain imaginings, their hearts from worldly affections, their eyes from that which perisheth. They should put their trust in God, and , holding fast unto Him, follow in His way . . .

The Book of Certitude,
Bahaullah

If we are caused joy or pain by a friend, if a love prove true or false, it is the soul that is affected. If our dear ones are far from us - it is the soul that grieves, and the grief or trouble of the soul may react on the body. Thus, when the spirit is fed with holy virtues, then is the body joyous; if the soul falls into sin, the body is in torment! When we find truth, constancy, fidelity, and love, we are happy; but if we meet with lying, faithlessness, and deceit, we are misrerable.

'Abdu'l-Bahá

O Thou kind Lord! These lovely children are the handiwork of the fingers of Thy might and the wondrous signs of Thy greatness.
O God! Protect these children, graciously assist them to be educated and enable them to render service to the world of humanity.
O God! These children are pearls, cause them to be nurtured within the shell of Thy loving- kindness. Thou are Bountiful, the All- Loving.
